I bought this to use with a Coleman Inflate-All Quick Pump so I could inflate bike tires and other things without having to be near a car. It did not produce enough power to even budge the pump, even though the manufacturer claims it will work with a pump or compressor.
Make sure the seller will pay for return postage if you buy this. (Northern Tool & Equipment didn't.)

I purchased this unit to power the Koolatron Compact Kooler, which uses 4.5 amps. I figured since this adapter is rated at 5.8 amps there should be no problem. Well there was a problem. I got no juice from the adapter at all. At first I thought it was an issue with the cooler, but I quickly ruled that out when I was able to get the cooler running while plugged into a 12V outlet in my car.
I then thought that maybe the amp rating of 5.8 was exaggerated, so I tried plugging in a standard car phone charger, which also did not work with the adapter. My conclusion ... the adapter is a dud. It seems like after reading some other reviews here, the amp rating of 5.8 may indeed be exaggerated, so I decided to go with another product (5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter).
*** UPDATE ***
The 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter worked great right out of the box. My first impression was that it was definitely much heavier than the Sunforce 55520 and it seemed to cool the fridge effortlessly. If you need an AC/DC Power Converter that will power a device upto 5 amps, skip the Sunforce and go with the 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter. You won't regret the decision. |

| I purchased the AC/DC power converter for my 40" Coleman Cooler and at first I thought it didn't work because there's something like metal that shakes in it, but I think that is supposed to happened. At any rate, the converter kept my cooler hot and cool for 3 days of traveling. I enjoyed having the option to switch from cold to hot. Great product! |

| I left an AC adaptor for a car cooler in a Holiday Inn. I tried to buy a replacement, but Brookstone was no help. This adaptor was the perfect answer! |

| I bought this adapter so that I could use my portable air compressor in my house. It does not work with my compressor. It is useless to me. |
